Join us on 16 June 2026 for a special sake masterclass at SHIKI Sakethek Vienna and discover the fascinating world of Urakasumi \u2014 one of Japan\u2019s most renowned and historic sake breweries.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Founded in 1724 in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture, the brewery has been operated by the Saura family ever since and continues to represent the highest level of craftsmanship, elegance, and deeply rooted Japanese brewing tradition. The name \u201cUrakasumi,\u201d meaning \u201cMisty Bay,\u201d refers to the picturesque coastal landscape surrounding Shiogama, whose fresh sea air and rich culinary culture strongly influence the character of the brewery\u2019s sake. Urakasumi is especially known for its exceptionally balanced, refined, and seafood-friendly sake and is regarded today as one of the great classics of the Japanese sake world.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

As part of this exclusive tasting experience, guests will enjoy six different premium sake from the brewery. Mr. Uotani will personally guide guests through the afternoon and share fascinating insights into the history, philosophy, and brewing methods of Urakasumi. Each sake will be explained in detail \u2014 from the rice varieties and polishing ratios to aroma profiles, stylistic characteristics, and ideal food pairings.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
